Wild Blue Yonder

Putting out the last of the garbage
Sam says, "I'll see you next year"
I'm about to say I won't be back
But Sam went to get a beer
And I'm left here to ponder
Over the wild blue yonder

Hamilton Camp

By request, here's "Here's to You" by sometime folkie and part-time M*A*S*H* actor Hamilton Camp.

Smile

From Pickwick/33, here is an album of righteous rottenness by a studio group called the Funnies who recorded shaky versions of several Partridge Family songs and other hits of the day, including "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo," "Put Your Hand in the Hand," and "You've Got a Friend." The record was a little damaged so it took some work to clean it up, and there are a few skips here and there. But don't let that keep you from smiling when you listen to this stone exploito classic.

Pop Symphony No. 1

Here's a true obscure gem from Jan & Dean's Jan Berry, who, with the help of arranger George Tipton, created his very own Teenage Symphony to God. This all-instrumental record features the Wrecking Crew, and the lush orchestrations are reminiscent of Phil Spector's wall of sound.

Many, many thanks to Easy Listening and Other Delights for supplying us all with this fantastic gem.

Glad

Got a request for this fine country-rock record, which features a pre-Poco Timothy B. Schmit.

Sam Neely

Really dig this dude's mellow '70s vibe, which is not too dissimilar to Jim Croce.

The Street People

When I think Pickwick Records, I think "classy" and "big budget." This little record does not disappoint. I mean, where else can you find songs like "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo," "Love Her Madly," and "Booty Butt" all on the same album? Snazzy cover, too.

Raw

I can't get no satisfaction
I ain't no Rolling Stone
No, I can't get no girl reaction
I'm out here all alone

Theme From "Mr. Novak"

Here's a nifty exploito record, one cashing in the '60s teen drama starring the late James Franciscus. What makes this a cut above is that it was produced by Beach Boy associate Nick Venet.
